Step 1: Four-on-the-Floor Kick
Every reggaeton beat relies on a solid, straight **four-on-the-floor kick** to keep the dancers locked to the tempo.
Place a Kick on beats **1, 2, 3, and 4** (steps 1, 5, 9, and 13 on the grid). Press play to hear the steady heartbeat.
Step 2: The Dem Bow Snare
The magic of reggaeton is the syncopated **Dem Bow snare pattern**. Instead of hitting directly on the backbeats, the snare is offset to create a swaying, tropical syncopation.
We place the Snares on steps **4, 7, 12, and 15** (positions 3, 6, 11, and 14). Together with the kicks, this forms the iconic 3:3:2 cross-rhythm.
Step 3: Percussive Shakers
To glue the syncopation together and add a rolling feel, we layer high-frequency percussions (like Shakers or Closed Hats) on syncopated divisions.
We place Closed Hi-Hats on steps **3, 5, 11, and 13** (positions 2, 4, 10, and 12) to wrap around the snare hits.
